Books for Babies & Books for Kids

Books for Babies Program

The Vermilion Public Library is pleased to offer the Vermilion community a Books for Babies kit. These kits are handed out at the Public Health Nurses Office (Vermilion Provincial Building) when babies receive their 18-month booster shots.

The kit includes 2 books, some reading tips, and a free family library membership for resident families.

Bring the gift certificate to the library to register for your library card OR register online: https://www.vplibrary.ca/services. You will need to provide proof of address to complete your membership application.

It is never too early to start reading to your kids. Reading exposes your baby to the sound of your voice which is soothing for them. We encourage you to read to your children early in life, as the first 3 years are an important developmental period for language skills.

Have you received one of these kits? Did you enjoy it? Let us know next time you visit the library or by telling us on social media: share a photo, leave a comment, or tag us on fb @vermilionpl or on Instagram @vermilionlibrary. You can also contact the Programs Coordinator by emailing astremick@vplibrary.ca.

The library would like to acknowledge the Vermilion & Area Early Learning Childhood Coalition for helping to fund these kits in the past. We are still using bookbags supplied by this group!
